Commentary on monitoring industries that negatively impact public health
at
A new commentary in the International Journal of Health Policy and Management discusses whether it is practical for governments to monitor the activities of industries that negatively impact public health. Anna Gilmore, Raouf Alebshehy and Stella Bialous consider how such corporate monitoring might be implemented.
This paper comments on the important work on ‘National Public Health Surveillance of Corporations in Key Unhealthy Commodity Industries’ by Liz Bennett, Stephanie Topp and Rob Moodie.
The authors note that:
“Ultimately, monitoring findings need to be actively disseminated to those who can take appropriate action and hold industry accountable.”
