Thomas (‘Tom’) McCoy was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) from 2013 to 2017.1
McCoy retired on 31 March 2017, and was succeeded by Eddy Pirard.1

Long-Standing Career in the Tobacco Industry

McCoy began working in the tobacco industry in 1985, when he joined American tobacco company RJ Reynolds as Marketing Director.2 In 1999, Japan Tobacco acquired RJ Reynolds International, and McCoy started working for JTI. He became JTI’s CEO when Pierre de Labouchere resigned his post as JTI’s CEO in December 2013.3
